VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Thank You for your interest in volunteering for the 2007 Buffalo Book Fair. As you can see, we are introducing a new name this year for the book fair. The experience will be the same – innovative and festive. Your involvement and cooperation will help make the book fair a memorable success.

Saturday July 7, 2007 from 11:00am – 7:00pm. The book fair, free and open to all will feature readings, book signings, interactive children activities, seminars, panel discussions, a variety of vendors and the opportunity to meet and greet celebrity authors. A family event that promotes the love of reading and literacy highlights the city’s diverse communities and rich ethnic history. The book fair, attracting over 4,000 people last year, serves as a perfect compliment to the annual Taste of Buffalo food festival that takes place the same weekend in downtown Buffalo. The Taste of Buffalo attracts an estimated crowd of 500,000 people over two days. The two events create a powerful synergy. As we say, experience the best of Buffalo – Our food – Our Culture – Our History.

The two-day literary celebration will begin on Friday, July 6, 2007 with our annual Literary Reception, 2007 Theme (Books, Blues and Barbecue) followed by the book fair the next day.

Some details about volunteering:

Volunteers will be provided information regarding parking for the date of the book fair .
You will be assigned a time slot based upon the activity and shift(s) that you select.
We will provide tee – shirts for volunteers to wear during the event.
The majority of volunteer activities require being on your feet. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Volunteers are eligible for a $5.00 discount for the Opening Literary Event ( Friday, July 6, 2007).
