WNED ThinkBright Lifelong Learning

WNED's ThinkBright Lifelong Learning includes a channel and an online service that will transform and enhance the educational experiences of teachers, students, families, and adult learners. An unprecedented grant of $2.5 million from The John R. Oishei Foundation allows WNED to harness digital technology to pioneer this landmark educational service. WNED's collaboration with the region's most talented and influential education technology organizations has produced a service that enriches and advances lifelong learning in the Buffalo Niagara region.

Buffalo & Erie County Public Library

The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (B&ECPL) serves as a center of information, education, culture and entertainment for the residents of Erie County. The B&ECPL is a County-wide library system, consisting of a Central Library in downtown Buffalo, nine City branches and 22 independent contract libraries in the villages, towns and cities of Erie County. Resources for the library system total more than four million books, DVDs and VHS tapes, CDs, documents, maps and magazines. These titles are complemented by a number of programs and special events that are hosted at library locations to engage community members of all ages. Beyond traditional library walls, the B&ECPL also offers a number of online services for the convenience of its patrons.

The Black Capital Network

The Black Capital Network LLC. is a small business consulting company that provides public relations, strategic planning and seminars to support business advancement and development. OraBind Communications, a division of the BCN, offers integrated marketing solutions for small businesses, organizations and published authors. The website (thebcn.com) is designed to help the promotion and growth of African American businesses and to provide a variety of information for all.

The Black Capital Network was inspired by the spirit of collective entrepreneurship envisioned by great Black statesmen such as Booker T. Washington and Frederick Douglass. Our objective is to highlight the many talents and services in our communities that are unknown or vastly underutilized - and to provide consumers with a choice.

Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County, Inc.

Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo & Erie County is the region's sole provider of free, one-on-one adult and family literacy services. They offer several programs: Basic Reading, English For Speakers of Other Languages, Correctional Literacy, the Drop In Literacy & Language Program and the Reading Right Now Project. Literacy Volunteers has recently expanded service delivery to include neighborhood based Literacy & Language Drop In Centers in the City of Buffalo's most impoverished neighborhoods. Last year, the organization provided literacy skills testing, assessment and tutoring to over 700 adult learners, using 584 volunteer tutors.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to enable Erie County residents to reach personal literacy goals in the areas of Basic Reading skills and English For Speakers of Other Languages.
